The following steps will help keep your home pest-free:

Cockroaches & Indoor Pests

  1. Clean up food spills and crumbs immediately.
  2. Keep food lids closed.
  3. Repair leaking faucets and drains.
  4. Keep appliances and counters clean of grease and food.
  5. Store bags away from food preparation areas.

Fleas

  1. Have a veterinarian treat your pet for fleas before returning it to your home.
  2. Wash pet bedding often in hot soapy water.
  3. Vacuum thoroughly in areas where pet spends time.
  4. Inspect pets for fleas and ticks often, especially in summer.
  5. Vacuuming is beneficial after a flea treatment, but avoid steam cleaning carpets.

Ants, Occasional, Invaders & Other Outdoor Pests

  1. Move your garbage collection area away from the house.
  2. Caulk around doors, windows, and utility inlets.
  3. Store firewood away from the house.
  4. Put a one-foot wide path of pea gravel around house to deter entry.
  5. Use screens in doors and windows.
  6. Repair cracks in foundation and dehumidify a wet or damp basement.
  7. Clean gutter and downspouts.
  8. Remove leaf litter promptly.
  9. Trim shrubs and trees away from house.
  10. Install “non-attractive” or yellow light bulbs.
